Providing your child with lots of opportunities to develop their fine motor skills strengthens their muscles in the hands and prepares them for using scissors.

Nature Cutting: Go on a nature hunt and forage items. Then have your child either cut or tear the items.

Lots of Lines Cutting: On a piece of paper draw different lines (swirls, zig zags, waves, loops, etc.) Then have your child attempt to cut those lines.

Cutting Hair: Take recycled paper tubes, draw a face, different types of lines (straight, squiggles, zig zags) and have your child cut the hair.
